There were black people in Britain during the Tudor times, including at the highest levels of society.

John Blanke was a trumpeter who performed at the funeral of Henry VII and the coronation of Henry VIII in 1509. He was one of several hundred Black Tudors who historians have found on records. Many may have come from Spain and Portugal which had more links with Africa at that time.
