The Local Studies Library subscribe to a number of online resources on your behalf.

Ancestry Library Edition – Ancestry is one of the most well known subscription genealogy sites in the world. It has over 4 billion names in over 4,000 collections. Ancestry provides the most genealogical information in one place including many historical records that have previously not been available online. It is continually expanding.

Ancestry Library Edition is distributed exclusively to libraries and is ideal for the family historian or local historian.

Access is only available in the library.

Find My Past – is an online family history resource. It is available in addition to Ancestry.com, and contains several resources which are unavailable on Ancestry and is more orientated towards the UK.

Available in Bradford Libraries only.

NewsBank – Any customer at any local library or with a library ticket from any PC, at home or at work can now use a new local newspaper archive.

Papers include:

  1. Does this website ever get checked? OBVIOUSLY NOT! Many entries simply refuse to appear making searching frustratingly long-winded and fruitless. Lancashire papers are particularly bad. Please check the website and try to correct the many errors.

  2. 19th century newspapers refusing to connect today. Why? Was fine yesterday. Have always been problems with this site. Pity because it’s extremely useful – when it condescends to work.
